If you recently adopted a pet from Animal Humane Society or another rescue organization, you should have received information about microchipping options or changing information attached to an existing microchip.
If you've adopted a pet from AHS that came to us with a microchip, the microchip has already been registered with 24 Petwatch at the time of adoption. You can update your contact information for your pet's microchip as needed through this link.
If your pet doesn't yet have a microchip, you can schedule an appointment at Animal Humane Society's vet clinics in Golden Valley or St. Paul. During your appointment, AHS will register your pet's microchip for you. You can also get your pet microchipped at major pet retailers (like PetSmart or Petco) or by your preferred veterinarian.
If your pet does have a microchip and you need to review and/or update the contact information on it, check out the list of common microchip companies below. If you don’t know which company your pet’s microchip is associated with, you may have to look up the ID number in each database, or through the Pet Microchip Lookup. If you don't have the ID number, you can have your pet's microchip scanned by a private veterinarian or at a major pet retailer.
